Obtaining information about files on a WebDAV server

You can use the File Properties Inspector to obtain information about files on a WebDAV server, including name, URL, creation date, modification date, size, lock status, and editing history.

To see information about a file:

1 Select the file in the WebDAV Browser or in the WebDAV tab of the site window.

2 If the File Properties Inspector is not showing, choose Window > Inspector.

3 Click one of the tabs in the Inspector:

  • The File tab displays a file's name, URL, creation and modification dates, and size.
  • The Special tab lets you see the file's content language, resource type, display name, and content type. This information must be entered on the WebDAV server side and will not appear in the Inspector if it has not been entered.
  • The Lock tab provides information on the file's lock status, including owner, access type available, scope of the lock (exclusive or shared), and lock timeout.
  • The History tab displays information about the editing history of the file, including the name of the user or users who edited the file, the date and time of past edits, and any comments entered by users. For information on entering comments, see Enhancing WebDAV with Workgroup Support.
